Research

The Institute for Carbon Neutrality, Tsinghua University (ICON, Tsinghua) is an interdisciplinary research platform dedicated to the three outputs - strategic ideas, key technologies, and comprehensive demonstrations, with its core focus on carbon reduction to support the achievement of carbon neutrality goals.

The ICON has established eight research centers from the perspectives of energy supply, energy utilization, system, and governance, including the Low-Carbon Energy and CCUS Research Center, the New-type Power System Research Center, the Zero-Carbon Building Research Center, the Zero-Carbon Transportation Research Center, the Industrial Deep Decarbonization Research Center, the Joint Pollution Control and Carbon Reduction Research Center, the Climate Change and Carbon Neutrality Strategy Research Center, and the Climate Governance and Carbon Finance Research Center, promoting key research projects at national, local, and industry levels.
