The second session of the Carbon Neutrality and Energy System Transformation (CNEST) Frontiers Seminar was successfully held at Tsinghua University’s Institute for Carbon Neutrality on June 21. The event featured a presentation by Ms. Loan K. Tran, Global Greenhouse Gas Policy Manager at ExxonMobil, titled “Energy System Transformation and Advancing Climate Solutions.”

Ms. Tran introduced ExxonMobil’s newly released annual report Advancing Climate Solutions, which includes the company’s outlook on global greenhouse gas reduction prospects toward 2050, as well as its strategic transition into low-carbon businesses such as carbon capture, utilization and storage (CCUS), blue hydrogen, biofuels, and lithium mining—building on its traditional oil and gas strengths. The seminar was chaired by Professor Lu Xi, Assistant Dean of the Institute, and attended by researchers from the Chinese Academy of Environmental Planning, Beijing Jiaotong University, and several departments at Tsinghua. Following the talk, Professor Lu presented a commemorative plaque to Ms. Tran.

The CNEST Frontiers Seminar Series is organized by the CNEST Multilateral Cooperation Program and the World Carbon Neutrality Society (preparatory), and hosted by Tsinghua’s Institute for Carbon Neutrality. It aims to invite leading global experts to share cutting-edge developments in technology, industry, and policy related to carbon neutrality and energy system transformation.
