The Low Carbon Energy and CCUS Research Center, supported by the Institute for Carbon Neutrality and the Department of Energy and Power Engineering, is dedicated to addressing significant concerns regarding clean, low-carbon, safe and efficient energy production by utilizing multidisciplinary integration and forming international first-class scientific research team. Aiming to meet the major demand for the low-carbonization of energy production in the electric power and energy transition, the center strives to solve the key scientific challenges related to low-carbon energy production, as well as capture, utilization, and sequestration of CO2, while generating innovative and impactful scientific research outcomes to facilitate the industrialization of these research findings. This will contribute to the achievement of carbon peaking and carbon neutrality goals.
Research Interests
1. Clean coal and low-carbon utilization technology: focusing on safe, efficient, flexible, intelligent and coupled renewable energy, developing key technologies for clean and low-carbon utilization of coal.
2. Renewable energy and energy storage: focusing on breakthroughs in key scientific issues and technical bottlenecks in pumped storage, electrochemical energy storage and thermal energy storage.
3. Hydrogen energy and fuel cells: research on key issues in hydrogen production and utilization of hydrogen and fuel cells, and the realization of key technological breakthroughs in the fields of hydrogen production from electrolytic water, hydrogen combustion, fuel cells, and the utilization of hydrogen syngas.
4. Carbon Capture, Utilization and Storage (CCUS): realizing efficient CO2 capture and innovating efficient CO2 utilization technologies.
5. Smart and integrated energy systems: developing original key technologies for future smart and integrated energy systems.
6. Advanced hydrogen/ammonia gas turbine technology: Comprehensive understanding of the characteristics of hydrogen/ammonia combustion, achieve significant breakthrough in the crucial technology of hydrogen/ammonia gas turbine, and develop the advanced power in green power generation system.
