On March 17, the Institute for Carbon Neutrality (ICON) at Tsinghua University held a work exchange meeting. The meeting was chaired by Dean He Kebin. More than 40 participants attended, including Li Zheng, Chief Scientist of the Climate Change and Carbon Neutrality Strategy Research Center at ICON, members of the management teams and core researchers from various research centers, departmental leadership and staff, and postdoctoral fellows.

At the meeting, representatives from eight research centers presented their work over the past year in areas such as scientific research, talent cultivation, team building, science communication, and domestic and international exchanges and collaboration. They also highlighted their progress in participating in and advancing the "Carbon Neutrality and Energy System Transformation" (CNEST) multilateral collaboration program.

During the exchange and discussion session, Professor Wang Zhe, Associate Dean of ICON, introduced the institute's research achievements in developing a carbon neutrality technology roadmap and driving low-carbon transformation in regions and industries, with a particular focus on the overall progress of the CNEST program. Representatives from various centers actively shared their views, reviewing existing cross-center and interdisciplinary collaborative research and discussing potential areas for future synergy. Participants noted that ICON, as a platform for interdisciplinary integration and collaborative innovation, plays a vital role in leading the CNEST program and developing the first-level discipline of Carbon Neutrality System Science and Technology. They suggested further strengthening communication and collaboration mechanisms and encouraging more researchers to join ICON to promote deeper integration across centers and disciplines, thereby making greater contributions to achieving carbon neutrality goals.

Academician He Kebin delivered the concluding remarks. He fully affirmed the fruitful achievements of the research centers over the past year and stated that ICON will continue to improve mechanisms for resource integration and information sharing. The institute will focus on key directions such as zero-carbon park development, electricity-carbon synergy, and CCER methodology development to further promote interdisciplinary and cross-center research collaboration. He emphasized advancing the CNEST program to successfully complete its cultivation phase and achieve early implementation, continuously building a high-level interdisciplinary collaborative innovation platform for carbon neutrality, and contributing greater efforts to serving China's "dual carbon" strategy and advancing global climate governance.
