The signing ceremony between the School of Environment and the Institute for Carbon Neutrality at Tsinghua University and Veolia (China) Environmental Services Co., Ltd. was held at the School of Environment on March 19. Prior to the event, Shi Zongkai, Deputy Director of the University Council of Tsinghua University, met with a delegation from Veolia, including Estelle Brachlianoff, Global Chief Executive Officer of Veolia Environment Group; Christophe Maquet, Senior Executive Vice President and Chairman of Veolia Asia Pacific; Gu Lihua, Chief Executive Officer of Veolia China; and Huang Xiaojun, Chief Representative of Veolia China. He Kebin, Dean of the Institute for Carbon Neutrality at Tsinghua University, and Liu Shuming, Dean of the School of Environment, also attended the meeting.

Shi Zongkai expressed gratitude for Veolia’s long-standing support and commitment to talent development at Tsinghua University, expressing anticipation for strengthened exchanges between the two sides in the fields of green development and low-carbon initiatives, contributing to global sustainability. Estelle Brachlianoff noted that Veolia is dedicated to driving ecological transformation through technological innovation and expressed a desire to deepen collaboration with Tsinghua University in areas such as scientific research and talent cultivation, working together to tackle environmental challenges.

At the signing ceremony, speeches were delivered by Estelle Brachlianoff, He Kebin, and Liu Shuming. Estelle Brachlianoff emphasized that Veolia regards green transformation, innovative research, and talent education as core drivers of its corporate development, and looks forward to in-depth cooperation with Tsinghua University to jointly address global environmental challenges. He Kebin noted that both parties will focus on advancing cutting-edge technologies for carbon neutrality and transforming innovative achievements across diverse scenarios, striving to support China’s “dual carbon” goals and combat global climate change. Liu Shuming reviewed the history of collaboration between the two sides, provided an overview of the School’s recent developments, and expressed hope for further cooperative achievements in research breakthroughs and talent cultivation. Witnessed by the guests, Liu Shuming and Huang Xiaojun signed the sixth-phase cooperation agreement on behalf of their respective organizations, while He Kebin and Huang Xiaojun signed a letter of intent for collaboration. The signing ceremony was moderated by Ji Qinghua, Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee of the School of Environment.
