The Climate Change and Carbon Neutrality Strategy Research Center, supported by the Institute for Carbon Neutrality and the Institute of Climate Change and Sustainable Development, focuses on grasping the international trends related to climate change and carbon neutrality. It conducts research on the planning, design, operation, control of energy and carbon neutrality systems, as well as interaction between energy systems and other systems. With an international and comprehensive perspective, it studies the strategic thinking and implementation paths for addressing climate change and carbon neutrality issues in China, and also investigates the carbon reduction mechanisms, strategies, and emission reduction mechanisms at the regional and industrial levels. It provides technical and policy support for the low-carbon transformation of the countries, regions, and industries.

Research Interests

1. Carry out tracking and systematic analysis of the goals, strategies and paths of the major economies in response to climate change and carbon neutrality.

2. Conduct research on long-term low-carbon development strategy and path towards carbon neutrality in China.

3. Conduct research on low-carbon transformation strategies, paths, and mechanisms for vital sectors such as energy, construction, transportation, and industry towards carbon neutrality.

4. Conduct research on low-carbon transformation strategies, paths, and mechanisms for important industries such as electricity, steel and non-ferrous metals towards carbon neutrality.

5. Carry out research on the characteristics of carbon emission pathways, potential for carbon reduction, and low-carbon development strategies and emission reduction pathways at the regional level.
