Supported by the Institute for Carbon Neutrality and the School of Environment, the Joint Pollution Control and Carbon Reduction Research Center establishes a series of theories, technologies and strategies for "pollution reduction, carbon reduction and synergistic efficiency" on the basis of the major needs of national key regions and watersheds for comprehensive improvement of environmental quality and low-carbon green development; establishes a full innovation chain of "breakthroughs in principles - technological innovations - integration and application - decision-making support" through the cross-integration of multidisciplinary disciplines and innovation of scientific research modes; and explores the new principles, technologies and modes of pollutant reduction, carbon reduction and synergistic efficiency in the field of the environment on the basis of synergistic pollution-carbon governance, resource enhancement and reduction of carbon reduction, as well as the route of system integration and optimization.

1. Resilient urban water systems and green watershed construction.
2. Research and development of pathway optimization, sink enhancement mechanism, synergistic emission reduction and multi-level greenhouse gas monitoring technology for carbon neutrality and clean air.
3. Construction of green low-carbon livable environment model in rural areas.
4. Theory and technology of multi-media synergistic pollution reduction and carbon reduction in soil and groundwater.
5. Low-carbon recycling technology and equipment for solid waste.
6. Pollution and carbon reduction assessment methodology system and decision-making support system.
