From November 13 to 23, a delegation from the Institute for Carbon Neutrality, Tsinghua University, visited Brazil and organized a series of side events on the theme "Carbon Neutrality and Energy System Transformation" during the 30th United Nations Climate Change Conference (COP30). During this period, led by Dean He Kebin, former Associate Dean Sun Xin, and Assistant Dean Lu Xi, the delegation visited multiple Brazilian universities, research institutions, and enterprises for surveys and talks, deeply promoting international exchange and cooperation under the "Carbon Neutrality and Energy System Transformation" (CNEST) multilateral collaboration program.
On November 14, local time, Sun Xin led a team to visit China Three Gorges (Brazil) Co., Ltd. in São Paulo. Zhang Xinlin, General Manager of CTG Brasil, introduced the company's development, particularly its deep involvement in Brazil's new energy systems, such as hydropower, and its latest progress in promoting local energy transition. Sun Xin's team introduced the overview of the Institute for Carbon Neutrality, Tsinghua University, and reviewed the cooperation between the Institute and China Three Gorges Group on the CNEST multilateral collaboration program. Both sides discussed how to continue leveraging the CNEST program as a crucial means to further international cooperation on energy system transformation.

Subsequently, Sun Xin's team visited the Americas Center of Mingyang Smart Energy Group for research and held discussions with Vice General Manager Zhang Peng and others. Zhang Peng introduced the development of Mingyang's wind power technology and its latest progress in promoting new energy development in Brazil. Sun Xin's team introduced the work progress of the Institute for Carbon Neutrality, focusing on the CNEST multilateral collaboration program. He Kebin and others introduced the latest progress of the Institute for Carbon Neutrality, Tsinghua University, and the CNEST multilateral collaboration program. Both sides discussed potential cooperation pathways based on the CNEST program platform, laying the foundation for future collaboration.

The team first toured the company's exhibition hall, learning in detail about its development history and achievements. During the meeting, He Kebin and Wang Yusheng, Vice President of State Grid Brazil Holding, discussed State Grid's participation and progress in the CNEST multilateral collaboration program, explored pathways and measures for jointly promoting CNEST program international cooperation with State Grid Brazil Holding, and identified opportunities for collaboration in more areas.

Lu Xi, Assistant Dean of the Institute for Carbon Neutrality, and Zhong Yijing, Director for Technology Communication, introduced the Institute's activities in scientific research, talent cultivation, science communication, and international cooperation. Fabio Ramos, Associate Director of the Institute of Mathematics at UFRJ, presented his team's research progress in energy modeling and other areas. Both sides discussed continuing to promote cooperation on the CNEST multilateral collaboration program and agreed to maintain close communication to advance relevant collaborations.

Chen Guangda, General Manager of Corporate Affairs for Vale's China region, introduced the company's situation, its plans, and latest progress in sustainable development. Lu Xi and Zhong Yijing introduced the Institute for Carbon Neutrality, focusing on the CNEST multilateral collaboration program. He Kebin stated that the Institute for Carbon Neutrality, Tsinghua University, and Vale have broad opportunities for cooperation in areas such as steel industry decarbonization, low-carbon technology innovation, and AI-enabled green transformation, hoping to strengthen collaboration in the future to jointly promote green transformation and sustainable development. Huang Yehua introduced the development of CNOOC Brazil Limited and the company's initiatives in promoting China-Brazil scientific and technological cooperation.
